88% of entrepreneurs are living at or below the poverty level when they come to NDC. 100% of entrepreneurs come to NDC with the talent, energy, and ability to challenge that statistic and create economic opportunities for themselves, their families, and their neighborhoods. * NDC entrepreneurs have created and now maintain an estimated 2200 jobs locally. * NDC entrepreneurs return $24 million each year to their communities in payroll, rent, taxes, and subcontracts.More than 80% of NDC resources are invested in four neighborhoods identified as having both high-potential and high-need for community development: North Minneapolis (West Broadway) , South Minneapolis (Lake Street) , St. Paul (University Avenue) and St. Paul's East Side (Payne-Phalen) .
NDC finds the untapped, hidden talent of entrepreneurs in low-income communities and eliminates barriers to their success through long-term relationships and culturally competent programs, including: * Entrepreneur Training & Small Business Workshops * Small Business & Islamically-acceptable Financing * One-on-one Business Coaching and Technical Assistance * Commercial Real Estate Development and Management * Capacity-building for community economic development
Through these unique programs, NDC has: * Trained more than 4,000 entrepreneurs * Provided financing totaling over $7.1 million to small businesses * Provided more than 25,000 hours of one-on-one assistance * Redeveloped 6 commercial properties that now house more than 120 small businesses
