You are right Michael Crawford is The Phantom and he set the acting and singing bar very high.

Crawford was then and is now the standard and the bar for all who play the Phantom. Crawford set the bar so high few can match him, his voice, the way he acts, the shorten sleeve to make his hands appear longer. He truly is the Phantom.

In reality, check history, the P-47 Thunderbolt was the dog fight killer. It shot down more planes, destroyed more equipment, etc. than any other plane. The Thunderbolt was Patton's eyes and ears. The Mustang iis better looking, gets the press. But history shows who the real killer was.
