One of America's leading aquariums, Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration showcases the living collections, science and conservation work of Sea Research through ever-changing exhibits and programs. The Institute for Exploration at the aquarium is a base for famed oceanographer Dr. Robert Ballard, known for his discovery and preservation of the R.M.S. Titanic, PT-109 and many others. His advancements in deep-sea technology have made it possible to bring his discoveries to kids across America in real time. These discoveries are featured in the Challenge of the Deep exhibition, which includes a thrilling XD theater ride.
