Because of this i am starting to think they choose the battles based on rivalry instead how they match-up. Egg Man/Wily, Mario/Sonic, Rainbow Dash/Starscream (hasbro rivalry) Chun-Li/Mai. on some of the fights i could think of people who would match-up better.

You are all forgetting that Kratos had to gain the power to kill gods. He also had to use other peoples weapons (Hades hooks, Blade of Olympus) to kill some of the gods. Without the stolen weapons he is about even to Scorpion.

@SLPIFan I get what you are saying its just to me Scorpion would stronger than Ryu while Liu-Kang would b e his equal. You are right though Scorpion and Sub-Zero seem like the icons of the game.
