Deck spreaders allow one to eliminate conventional mast spreaders and therefore the mast can now rotate. (If you have shrouds running through spreaders rig cannot rotate.) The idea is to use a wing mast section that improves sail efficiency.

Lower the outboard end of the pole.
Both twings on in the gybe. Don't ease the what will be the new guy so much, don't let the clew go the forestay and certainly don't ease it after the broach. Throw the boom over when you start the gybe that will keep air in the chute and it won't collapse.
