I found your channel through a comment you made on Ted Talks, and was glad I did. Congratulations on how level-headed you are. As you mention, "We need to transform (religion) into a more enlightened, useful, and accurate social construct". True. We are social animals and, as a biologist and anthropologist, I know that rituals and ceremonies strengthen social bonds, give the individual a sense of belonging, a connection with the past and embody hope in the future. I am abuddhist and, as such, an atheist (and no, not all buddhists believe in reincarnation and other cultural beliefs). I despise dogmas and the fanatics that can only see through structured worldviews, but at the same time feel kind of sorry for those rabid atheists that have become bitter, waiting to see the day when religion disappears. All this just to tell you I love your channel!
