Following the Qur'an with your own interpretation doesn't work.

You have to understand the role the Qur'an played, and the role the Sunnah played. The Qur'an was the guidelines sent for mankind. The Sunnah was Muhammad sallalahu alayhi wasalaam teaching the Qur'an and fufilling the role of a Messenger sent out to his Ummah (us.) The Qur'an was revealed as a Speech of Allaah to all of mankind. The Messenger warned the people as he was addressed in the Qur'an as "a plain warner." Simple.

Following what young uneducated people say about the deen doesn't work.

Following your own desires when it comes to hadith doesn't work. There are some wacky applications of hadith, but how do we verify hadith? Through the science of hadith. How do we know the science of hadith? Through verifying it through the scholars of the PAST and PRESENT.

How do you know who's a scholar? You take a look at the people who have studied this religion for A LONG TIME (not just a 4 year degree) and see what their Aqeedah and Manhaj is. Take from the ones that represent the righteous salaf.

We must follow the authentic statements and sources with the understandings to achieve success insha Allaah. Khalas.
