Act 1
- Muhammad: "I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allaah in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allaah and adhere to it. The second are the members of my household I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family."
- Followers: "We accept your spoken will, o messenger of Allaah!"
- Muhammad: "The affairs of the people will continue to be conducted (well) as long as they are governed by twelve men."
Act 2
- Muhammad: "Come, I may write for you a document; you would not go astray after that."
- Umar: "Verily Allaah's Messenger is deeply afflicted with pain. You have the Qur'an with you. The Book of Allaah is sufficient for us."
- Followers: "We accept your document, o messenger of Allaah!"
- Others: "We agree with you Umar!"

- Ibn Abbas: "There was a heavy loss, indeed a heavy loss, that, due to their dispute and noise. Allaah's Messenger could not write (or dictate) the document for them."
