@Bodomchld They switched solos sometime in the summer of '71. Most of the bootlegs from that period have Dickey doing the first solo. I liked it better the other way.

@grantdabassman No, you are totally wrong. Duane plays this solo. If you are in doubt, play the CD or go to Smokyman1's download of the entire song here on YouTube and you can hear the following solo. If you can't recognize Dickey's licks in that solo, you are tone deaf.

I wonder how this would sound played by the original Allman Brothers band? This is, by the way, the remixed version of the song put together in 1977 when the album was reissued. To hear the slightly different original mix, you can get a cd of the Duane Allman Anthology 1. In that version, the end...

None of the other panelists liked Hal Block. John Daly disliked him as well. Daly would occasionally refer to Dorothy, Arlene and Bennett by their first names, but Hal Block was always 'Mr. Block'. Look at Daly's expression at 8:09, undisguised disgust at Block's crude behavior.

@1saxonwolf Even though Dempsey fought a good, fast fight against Gibbons, that was after a 2 year layoff and Jack was only 28. For Tunney #1, there was a 3 year layoff and he was 31. If Dempsey had fought Wills in '24, someone else in '25, who knows, maybe he would have beat Tunney. I really thi...

@bigmoney749 That was even more spectacular than this, but the difference was in the fact that Patterson had been setting Ingo up for the punch. Ingo was ready to go. In this fight, Rocky's punch was a bolt out of the blue.

@marcxopoco Of all the fighters in history who had long layoffs and came back, Zale's comeback was one of the most impressive. A Zale vs Lamotta bout just wasn't a profitable venture from '46-'48, in no way did Zale duck anybody.

@bloodgutsnglory Just to clarify, Gene Tunney never fought a black fighter in his career. During Tunney's heavyweight years, Harry Wills was about the only significant black fighter he might have faced. Dempsey received a lot of heat for not fighting him, but as things turned out, both Jack an...
