This channel is devoted to appreciating and enjoying the quality, art, and beauty of different kinds of music (MAINLY from the "Great American Songbook" which is what the name of this channel use to be called) that is pleasing in appearance and is placed in a different class from the trash that is brought out today. I think that this generation is suffering from music that is so "dumbed down" where the lyrics to a song doesn't matter anymore nor the art of interpreting the lyric but it seems to be all about how loud the singer can get and how many vocal acrobats he/she can do. The raw vocals that prick the heart and soul and makes you "feel" is now reduced to auto-tune vocals where singers do not want to take the time, care, and attention to their music. Money always played a role in the music industry but today money seems to be king and the quality of a song is thrown out of the window. What happened to the class, sophistication, lyrics, and style in music?

If you are looking for the type of music that displays class and sophistication please stop by, take off your shoes, get a glass of wine, sit back, relax and listen to some REAL music and stay for as long as you want . . . AND if you never heard songs from the Great American Songbook before give it a chance. This music will be a breath of fresh air in the midst of loud and vulgar music that is drenched with sex but is missing romance, the chase, wit, and humor. Music from The Great American Songbook is timeless and the songs contain all of the emotions that we as human beings feel each and every day.

This channel also displays classical music, music from television shows, and also some pop music from today's generation (not all of today's music is bad, there are a few diamonds in the rough out there) that has meaningful lyrics and is full of quality that does not display provocative material.

***UPDATE: I've decided to change this channel up for a bit. I'm going to honor a particular singer and devote the channel to that singer each and every month. For the rest of this month (Feburary) I was going to continue recognizing, honoring and commemorating SARAH VAUGHAN but tragedy took place in the music industry world. Instead I'm going to honor WHITNEY HOUSTON for the rest of the month, remembering the marvelous work that she did over the years, making quite an impact in the industry. I remember growing up listening to her music in the 90's. Now with her death, it brought up memories of my childhood all over again. RIP Whitney

Today's music in the industry is so manufactured, synthetic, artificial, and so full of autotune.

This channel will honor other famous and talented artists like Frank Sinatra, Shirley Horn, Billie Holiday, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, Adele, and many many others.

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life —Berthhold Auerbach

Music isnt just learning notes and playing them, you learn notes to play to the music of your soul —Katie Greenwood

You know, I got to live with my tunes before I sing a song. It's got to mean something man. . . Otherwise, I can't sing. I can't sing. It doesn't mean nothin' to me —Billie Holiday

Music is the wine that fills the cup of silence —Robert Fripp
About Me:

I'm a young guy who likes to listen to music of "yesterday" (which some people might call "old"). It's surely a breath of fresh air from all of the junk that is piling up on us today from the music industry. Essentially I have an "old soul". Don't get me wrong, I like some of today's music but as a whole I'm more into music from the past. I'm a BIG fan of songs from "The Great American Songbook" that consists of great songwriters and composers from the likes of Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, Jerome Kern, Irving Berling and MANY others. Many of the songs from the Great American Songbook have such beautiful lyrics that are missing so much from today's music. I miss those poetic lyrics from the pen of these great songwriters. Most of today's song lyrics are like bubble-gum . . . .you chew it for a bit then when it loses it flavor you spit it out—It is worthless and of no value anymore. How can bubble-gum lyric songs be remembered many years later? Where are the great songwriters in today's generation?

Aside from listening to music I love to read, write poetry, and stories. In 2008, I received honorable mention in a poetry contest for a poem that I wrote and there is a link above so take a look at that and enjoy! Just recently I got one of my poems accepted and it will be published in "The Storyteller" literary magazine in April of this year!

i strongly agree with your assessment. it resembles mine. i loathe today's commercial garbage with every fiber of my being and i stay away from the radio & any other outlet that caters that carcass disguised as art. even though we have different taste, i commend you for creating this channel.
