The Band was a popular rock group from 1967-1976. The Band collectively, was recruited by Ronnie Hawkins (The Hawks). The Band became weary of performing with Ronnie and became they're own group. In 1967 The Band had they're first concert at the Winterland palace in San Francisco, California. Over the years The Band has produced many well known songs such as: The Weight, Up On Cripple Creek and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. The Band continued to tour and produce music for 8 years until 1967 when they played they're last concert at the Winterland palace on thanksgiving day (USA). The Last Waltz is best known for the stellar show and the movie produced by Martin Scorcese. The Band broke up after the concert. Today The Band's musical legacy lives on. Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson and Garth Hudson are still active musicians, sadly Richard Manuel and Rick Danko have passed away. Ladies and Gentlemen, The Band!
