History of the Drumline:
The Muscle Shoals High School Drumline has a winning tradition among competitions on a local and national scale.The Muscle Shoals High School Drumline is only a branch of the Muscle Shoals Marching Band. Together, they have achieved 43 years of straight superior ratings. They have performed in local competitions and others such as the Vanderbilt Marching Invitational, the Bands of America Regionals in Bowling Green, KY and Murfreesboro, TN, and the Bands of America Super Regional in Atlanta, GA. The Drumline also competes as a SCGC and WGI, percussion ensemble . They continue to recieve many awards for individual sections as well as the Grand Champion trophies. In 2004, they competed at PASIC in Nashville, TN, placing fourth overall. In April of 2008, the Drumline competed nationally (in both SCGC and WGI) when they traveled to Dayton, Ohio to perform in the World Finals of WGI, where they placed 3rd in the nation. Beside the competitive part of the Drumline, they began an annual Percussion Preview in 2007 to help other local drumlines. As well as the Percussion Preview, the Percusion ensemble now hosts an annual Dinner with the Drumline, to raise money for their World Finals trip. This is a catered dinner, where the waiters and waitresses are ensemble members, this dinner comes with live entertainment from the ensemble members themselves. You are sure to have a great time at the Dinner with the Drumline. The MSHS Drumline also holds a clinic every year during marching season. Some of the wonderful clinicians they have had include Colin McNutt, Thom Hannum, and most recently, Jeff Queen. The Drumline is sponsered by Vic Firth!
