I have seen one deleted scene here on YouTube that I wish they had kept. Helen has her hair cut by Mr Brocklehurst. That is a real powerful scene that would have made Helen more distinct. If it would have made her more like the Helen in the novel is a matter of interpretation, though.

Those who insists of this being a Christian metaphore, or a story advocating Victorian moral standards will not be satisfied but then they have probably not read the book very carefully.

@MsSilentia And the novel is very passionate in a physical way. Whith only today's cultural litteracy it is not easy to recognize all those erothic symbols. But the fact that the novel was considered morally dangerous might be a clue to what it said in Victorian age.
