Perhaps answeracer meant the type of dumplings we have in the UK - we use suet and they are round in shape (add herbs/flavours if you wish) but they are called dumplings but they are totally different. They work particularly well in a beef and ale casserole if you add some horseradish.

Guess this has a worldwide audience but wouldn't it be wonderful for all of us who remember this song and similar ones of that decade to have a live concert featuring all the songs to transport us back - if only for a few hours. I will leave you with that thought.
