About Me:

Currently touring with Bellydance Superstars and living in Austin, TX. April Rose began Raks Sharki Cabaret Bellydance at 12 years old and expanded to Tribal Style bellydance with Amy Sigil and UNMATA at 16. She has now been in LA for 4 years where she has completed a BA in Dance from UCLA and is currently working on her Masters in "Culture, Performance, and Dance." Although her expertise lies within the field of bellydance, April has had limited training in ballet, modern, West African, jazz, hip hop, Bedhayo Javanese court dance, Bharatanatyam, Odissi, & Khathak classical Indian dances. As director of The Nautch Project Dance Co. and dance teacher, April Rose offers classes in (Amy Sigil's) Hot Pot Improvisational Tribal Style as well as basic to complex belly dance technique. She is excited by yoga, travel, the complexities of intercultural performance, and the blurry borders of "bellydance." She also has a passion for Structured Group Improv.
