Absolutely one of the greatest soul ballads of all time. What a message.

The problem with todays so-called ballads, is that they are in too much of a hurry to get to the point. Take a lesson young-uns, LOVE does come to those who can wait. Thats why patience is an incredible virtue. And virtue is worth a lifetime of waiting.

I find it interesting that so many folks go back and forth about this song- I mean the studio version or the live version. I would play both on my radio show and it was always a toss up. No matter, it's a classic no matter how you slice it.
