Just bought the 'trilogy' on DVD and watched entire series last night. Had forgotten just how powerful this was! Richardson supreme as always but Michael Kitchen fantastic! The two actors sparring off each other was brilliant indeed.

Makes me feel uneasy. Impossible to deny his record of involvement in terrorism-IRA/Lockerbie/PC Fletcher etc but the manner of his death ??? I feel like a voyeur. Unpleasant and disquieting sight.

Just watched this again. This is for me the pivotal aria in the opera for after this the spiral into disaster and horror can no longer be prevented. Gavanelli is supreme, his sheer presence makes him THE Rigoletto of the 20th century for me. Absolutely fantastic.
