Where would I acquire the outline for this character?

As a beginner, hadn't thought of carving a bird. You make it look so easy that I am going to make an attempt. Thank you for demonstrating the wood burner. I will now be able to follow the entire series as shown.

As a lover of all animals, this wolf carving is a great project for me being a beginner.

I am sold on roughouts.

Highly useful video for me since I have not used a roughout [yet]. I was intimidated before watching this tutorial. Didn't want to ruin a costly piece.This video at least provides guidelines to make my attempt on a roughout to attain encouraging results.

As an ameteur carver, the technique of the knife to allow for this character to be made is of most interest. Though the design may not be suited for a beginner, technique is learned by all. And so, I have learned a great deal here.

I really like the elf design and the way it turned out. There is something about the big face and stooped posture that makes it unique over the other ornaments.

And is there an acrylic clear coat over the paint? The paint used by me is flat. Your result has a sheen to them.

Being a beginner carver, this instruction about depth is very helpful. The various depths to consider is one particular aspect that I over looked. Thank you for explaining it so well.

I am presently using a coping saw to make the cuts, Was wondering if a scroll saw would surfice as long as the thickness is less than 2" ??

A great resourceful project for remaining wood cut from another project.

This video concludes an endless search for a bandsaw that will benefit me. I've been using a coping saw or just a knife to arrive at a profile. Thanks very much for a greatly needed tutorial on using the band saw .

thanks for the video. My first four carvings as a beginner have been miniatures. It teaches me to be extra careful with maneuvering a sharp blade around facial features.
