Big Dez (FRA)
Guitarist-singer Phil Fernandez and keybordist Bala Pradal formed Big Dez in 1996.They spend most of their time rehearsing in a garage in the suburbs of Paris playing English and American blues. Re-inforced by bassist Lamine Guerfi, harmonisist Marc Schaeller, drummer Stéphane Miñana and guitarist Rodolphe Dumont, the band has for years been smoking the bars of the Paris region, as well as touring the USA (Chicago, Austin, Saint Louis) where they have formed solid relationships with the local musicians.
Following the impetus of leader Phil Fernandez, the group recorded their own compositions on their first album Sail On Blues, in Austin, Texas in 2003. Four other albums would follow: Night After Night (Austin Texas 2004),You Can Smile (Jamestown MO, 2007), Late Live, mostly live recordings from their 2009 european tour, and Lazy Star (Anjou,France ,2010).
In February, 2009, with the sponsorship of Blues Sur Seine, the band represented France at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn. Veterans of the European festival circuit, the electric blues of Big Dez is stimulating; full of both humor and melancholy. With rock, soul and funk influences, the style is diverse and unique!
Dudley Taft (USA)

Dudley Taft - Lead Guitar & Vocals
Seattle songwriter and guitarist Dudley Taft has been an integral part of the Seattle music scene since 1990. His first band, Sweet Water played sold-out shows and recorded two albums for Atlantic Records in the early 1990's.
Dudley's next CD was recorded for Capitol Records with the band Second Coming in 1997. He has toured extensively with fellow bands Alice in Chains, Candlebox, Monster Magnet and Fuel, to name a few.
Dudley Taft's guitar playing is often compared to the likes of Jimmy Page, Gary Moore and Joe Bonamassa. However, "it's the strength of the self penned material that makes this such a success..." says Bob Chaffey of Blues Matters Magazine about Taft's first CD, Left For Dead. The Dudley Taft band combines driving blues rhythms and classic riffs with a fresh take on Blues classics and engaging original compositions. In a relatively short period of time, Taft has made a splash in the blues world with rave reviews worldwide and key live shows in the Northwest.
He grew up in a country called the "Midwest", where he learned the values of friendship, roots blues, rock and roll and a good ear of corn. Dudley trained with local guitar hero Rob Swaynie who taught him music theory interspersed with B.B King and Deep Purple riffs.
In high school, he co-founded "Space Antelope" with Trey Anasatasio (of Phish), playing many school events. After four years of studying Johnny Winter and Billy Gibbons riffs at college in California, he emerged with a degree in Sociology.
In 2006, he embraced the Blues, recognizing it as the foundation of all the great 1970's rock he has exposed to as a teenager. The more investigating he did, the more he realized that the Blues was his true musical home. Dudley's band can be best described as "a little bit of Texas Blues infused with some Mississippi Delta, sprinkled with a hint of British Invasion and served up with Northwest Rock sensibility. His first blues CD, "Left For Dead", released in 2010 marks the beginning of the rest of his musical career.
John Kessler - Bass Guitar
John is best known for hosting KPLU's All Blues radio show. Twelve hours of programming each weekend for the last twelve years has made John an absolute blues expert, but many listeners do not know that he is also an accomplished, innovative bass player. He adds a great improvisational spirit to his mastery of blues grooves.
Scott Vogel - Drums
Scott is the type of drummer that is all about the groove. Unassuming and humble, he makes it all look easy. Among busying himself with studio work, Scott recorded for Virgin records with Reverend and has toured extensively. He is the foundation of the band, skillfully weaving together traditional blues rhythms with precision and finesse.
Shawn Kellerman (CAN)
They called James Brown the hardest working man in show business and it would be no understatement to call Shawn Kellerman the hardest playing blues guitarist on the scene today. Shawn is recognized as one of the most powerful stage performers you will ever see. He literally puts every ounce of mental and physical energy into his music. Expressive, dynamic and technically outstanding, Shawn continues to build on his past experiences and push the boundaries of traditional blues into modern territory by adding in some soul, funk and rock influences. Sitting up close at a live performance is truly an awesome, jaw dropping experience.
When asked about his approach to music, Shawn replied "My roots are in the south and the music I hear in my head is based around high energy blues played with sensitivity and honesty. When I am sending a strong message, I just let it rip. When I am talking tenderness I caress each note." Listening to Shawn play confirms his deep background in the main schools of blues notably such recognized performers as Albert King & Albert Collins. Shawn drew personal inspiration from Mel Brown who was not only a mentor but a close friend.
Shawn started his musical career as a teenager and has been on the road in 20 different countries over the last 15 years. During the last two years he has concentrated on touring with his own trio The Shawn Kellerman Band which has played key festivals like the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Fest, Mont Tremblant, Pittsburgh Blues Fest and Blues From the Top . Shawn's band has also backed international blues greats like Sherman Robertson at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest, Memphis in May and Lucky Peterson in Moscow Russia.
Shawn has been nominated for the Guitar Player The Year by the Maple Blues Awards, Canadas most respected blues society based in Toronto, Ontario. Shawn recorded and performed on Bobby Rush Raw CD released in 2007 that won a Blues Music Award in Memphis for Best Acoustic CD of the Year.

Johnny Winter (USA)
Johnny Winter has been a guitar hero without equal. Signing to Columbia records in 1969 called largest solo artist deal of it's time, Johnny immediately laid out the blueprint for his fresh take on classic blues a prime combination for the legions of fans just discovering the blues via the likes of Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Constantly shifting between simple country blues in the vein of Robert Johnson, to all-out electric slide guitar blues-rock, -- Johnny has always been one of the most respected singers and guitar players in rock and the clear link between British blues-rock and American Southern rock (a la the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd.) Throughout the '70s and '80s, Johnny was the unofficial torch-bearer for the blues, championing and aiding the careers of his idols like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker.
Winter's big breakthrough came a few years later in 1968 when Rolling Stone writers Larry Sepulvado and John Burks featured him in a piece on the Texas Music scene, which prompted a bidding war among labels that Columbia eventually won.
Johnny's self-titled 1969 disc announced loudly that there was a new guitar-slinger on the new national scene. The disc included audacious covers such blues classics as B.B. King's "Be Careful with a Fool," Sonny Boy Williamson II's "Good Morning Little School Girl," Robert Johnson's "When You Got a Good Friend" and fellow Texan Lightin' Hopkins' "Back Door Friend." It also featured two prime original Winter songs, "Dallas"and the controversial "I'm Yours and I'm Hers," that went into heavy rotation on FM underground radio. The album peaked at No.24 on the billboard chart and was promptly followed by Second Winter later that same year.
Today Johnny Winter is enjoying an unparalleled resurgence performing to sold out shows worldwide even after a long life full of honors and accomplishments such as a triumphant appearance at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival with Derek Trucks, Buddy Guy and Clapton that has been immortalized on the Emmy award winning DVD. In a ceremony with Slash presenting in Nashville, Gibson Guitars released the signature Johnny Winter Firebird guitar that has been his beloved trademark for years. A Live through the 70s DVD is a hit along with his Live Bootleg Series CDs that have all entered the Top 10 Billboard Blues charts. Two unique instructional DVDs have been produced by Cherry Lane/Hal Leonard to the gratitude of players around the world. Always one for special appearances he recently performed with the Allman Brothers at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan on the 40th anniversary of their debut.
Eddie The Chief Clearwater (USA)
During the 1950s, Chicago's West Side was a breeding ground for some of the world's greatest bluesmen. Magic Sam, Otis Rush, Freddie King and others ruled the clubs. With his fierce guitar playing, soulful and emotive vocals and wild stage shows, Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater easily belongs on this list. A Chicago legend, Clearwater is an intense, flamboyant blues-rocking showman. He's equally comfortable playing the deepest, most heartfelt blues or rocking, good-time party music. DownBeat said, "Left-hander Eddy Clearwater is a forceful six-stringer...He lays down some gritty West Side shuffles and belly-grinding slow blues that highlight his raw chops, soulful vocals, and earthy, humorous lyrics."
By 1953, as Guitar Eddy, he was making a strong name for himself, working the South and West Side bars regularly. He met and befriended everyone from Sunnyland Slim to Earl Hooker, picking up licks and lessons along the way. After hearing Chuck Berry in 1957, Eddy added that rock and roll element to his already searing blues style, creating a unique sound that defines him to this day. He recorded his first single, Hill Billy Blues, in 1958 for his uncle's Atomic H label under the name Clear Waters. His manager at the time, drummer Jump Jackson, came up with the name as a play on Muddy Waters.
Now, with WEST SIDE STRUT, Eddy has made the very best album of his life. Between the untamed guitar work, the tough and gruff vocals and the strength of the songs, the old-school yet contemporary WEST SIDE STRUT will lead Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater to the very top of the blues world and beyond. Clearwater loves to perform and can usually be found tearing it up somewhere around the world on any given night. He's played everywhere from Russia, Turkey, and Romania to Brazil and Alaska. He'll hit the road hard in support of the CD, strutting his slicing guitar licks, his rock-fueled blues, rockabilly, country and gospel gumbo and his uninhibited live show to fans ready for a taste of the real West Side Chicago blues, played by a master at the very peak of his abilities.
