I just realized the reason for the acapella. Looks like Chuck broke a string. You can see Dave's weird look at 2:22, and Chuck unstrapping his guitar to give it to the (ninja) backstage. Then, he replaces it with a freshly tuned guitar. Well done stage crew!

@ryan06105 I've been wrong before. I'm unfamiliar with Gibson's junior models. I know his other electrics are all junior guitars (to fit his skinny frame).

you don't usually see singers come down an octave for the chorus. I'm not sure if he meant to start singing that high or not... but it's an interesting sound to have the verses sung high, and the chorus sung an octave lower.
