completely clueless as how to build a deck. ignore this video .This guy knows very little about proper deck support. He also wasted much in extra material. Definitely a " homeowner built deck"

2nd rate way to support a deck at best, although generally accepted in many areas of the country.Footings should be poured to or above grade.In video it appears that he has only 12" of concrete in footing at best. Concrete to post brackets(hot dipped galvanized) should be inserted in footing. pos...

definitely not code, a quick fix would be to install footings, posts, and beams to support this area. I also see no evidence of flashing at top of ledger.
