My daughters love GKR Karate hence my instructional playlists.
Whatever your views of Karate, it does have lots of life lessons outside of a potential for the obvious.
It teaches children:-
Respect for others,
How to GET AWAY and AVOID violent confrontation, by SELF DEFENSE,
Self respect and self discipline.
Inner harmony.
Confidence tempered with humility.
It gets them off of the street,
Keeps them out of trouble,
Gives them a compass,
Keeps them fit,
Helps them to make friends and is a place to socialise as well as train.
There are many styles from non-contact (So that you don't end up looking like me) or also semi and full contact (I'd say start them in non contact and see where it leads). Sensei's are usually excellent at what they do. Try it out with them in some clubs. If that's not your bag then try out Judo, Jui-Jitsu, Aikido, Boxing, Thai Boxing, MMA.
It may change their life.
