I teach my students ages 7 onwards: to play the drums in a totaly Unique way. I strted out with a traditional method, one on one showing them the method whilst i play on the drums and they copy. I soon realised that the students wouldnt get the experience of playing with any other intruments and musicians. Any one can learn an instrument, but may never play with another muscisian. therefore, this year i played the guirar along with them .The guitar, like all instuments : is played using the same rythms played on the drums. Still One to one tuition where the student takes instruction from me and is first shown the rythm on the drums. Then shown on the guitar. This method Email: ianhayward501@hotmail.com

When I play the drums, I feel wonderful. I call it The Zone! Whether I am teaching, practicing , gigging or recording; the Zone is where I am. Fully focussed and enjoying every second.

I love the great drummers that have passion and feel. Sure, there is many technicaly brilliant drumers ; but you got have the feel and groove. Steve gadd and Mr John Bonham have been my inspirations. Say no more!!!

I started my drumming annoying the hell out of my parents when I was seven years old. Without any real drums, I would use my mothers knitting needles and bash the hell out of the arms of the sofa whilst watching top of the pops. I am now forty two and to be honest ; not much has changed. I am still driven by the dream of one day gracing a, Jools Holland stage or embarking on a world tour somewhere hot. I guess what Im really trying to say here, is that I have a true passion for playing the drums. As a well seasoned player I am the stick man with my own band. I regularly continue to appear at venues, in and around London. I have gained many years experience playing live as well as recording and session playing.

I think that any budding musician should know and love the instrument that they play. Drums, like any other precision instrument, requires thought and knowledge to gain the best from them. Like all new things, to be very good at something, practice is the key. , the more you do it the better you get. (Students take note!!) Now that I have found the Drumsense system, I want to combine it with my knowledge, enthusiasm and passion, and pass it on.
