One of these days, someone will post Jerry's version of "Mississippi Woman." A super record that should've been a major country hit. Was out well before Waylon's uptempo version. I keep searching for it and Larry Collins' "Outcast." One of these days...

Like so many 60s soul smashes, this should have crossed over and gone pop. Glad we had KGFJ in L.A., where you could count on hearing this and records like it.

Shoulda been a pop crossover hit, like Rescue Me. Thank goodness KGFJ (L.A.'s Soul station at the time) played it. Great to hear it again.

The Beatles covered both sides of this stellar single.... Slow Down and Dizzy Miss Lizzy. But there's nothin' like hearing the originals.

Yeah, the Buckinghams took the song up the mainstream charts... but soul radio (like L.A.'s XERB - the Big X - at the time, home of Wolfman Jack) played this version.

I worked at a Sacramento, CA, radio station when this came out. We played it a lot. I mean a lot!!! Still love it.

Thanks for posting the hit version of this classic R&B track. The version that you find on the best of album has a different tempo and vocal. It's good, but this is the one I heard on L.A. radio.

Had the pleasure of playing this when it was new on the radio. One of the best versions of a great song.

One of those early-70s songs she had out on RCA. I was fortunate enough to play it on the radio when it was new - along with "You and Your Sweet Love," "I Never Once Stopped Loving You," "Just One Time" and her dynamite recording of "Louisiana Man." What a talent!

Played this on the radio when it was new. Sounds as good now as it did then. Met Marty at an L.A. recording studio a few years ago. Super nice guy.
