About this user

These words describe the work and character of Charles Pheby [known as Charlie to all], a London native who lives in the moment yet thinks of the future. From a very young age he showed tremendous skill in drawing and sculpture, creating a moving replica of a chocolate factory at the age of 5 - some may say creative, others anally retentive.

During secondary school Mr. Pheby explored different mediums such as concrete, latex, wood and metals. When he wasnt constructing a sculpture in a garden he was taking photos or mastering in Photoshop. Mr.Pheby became more and more fascinated by anatomy and its ties with the arts throughout history. This led to a life long obsession with the life of a cell, plant formation, organ shapes, embryos, decay and x-rays. This keen interest helped cultivate many images of mystery and grace.

Mr. Pheby continued to develop skills in photography, graphic design, sculpture and then moving image at H.E and F.E levels, artist's ateliers and workshop settings.
Whilst undertaking a BA in Film and Video at Londons LCP [now renamed LCC] Mr.Pheby showed his works at The National Film Theatre, ICA, 291, Midland Grand St. Pancras and other grand locations.

Mr.Pheby slowly moved away from the Art Sector and began a career in Broadcasting. Originally working in post-production on programmes for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, LivingTV and others. These days his time is spent in Editorial, developing new formates, casting contributors and filming shows.

Although he felt he had learnt all he could from traditional education, his interest in social science led him to undertake a MA in Group and Intercultural Therapy.

Charles Pheby still spends free time creating works, moving more away from the sterile medical realm and embracing colour and texture. Today Mr.Pheby is an Assistant Producer working on hit UK TV shows. He will always be drawn to the Golden Section.
