With that said, the attitude era came about because hardcore style was popular with adult males. I believe that hardcore matches show no skills because it's just wrestlers cracking skulls with weapons. This is the argument. I have a good friend who watched wrestling in the 70s and he told me that the attitude era was overrated and it was based on hardcore matches. Yeah, but that didn't really draw ratings. Austin and the Rock drew ratings. Not the hardcore matches itself. Look it up. Yeah, it's entertainment but it went on for too long! I liked the AE, but I liked it because of Austin.
I know plenty of people that realized that the attitude era didn't need hardcore wrestling. Just because I disliked the hardcore style doesn't mean that nobody didn't like it either. Am I right or wrong? There's no way that EVERYBODY liked the hardcore style. They got rid of the hardcore style in 2002 when the hardcore division died down. There was NO point. The only hot wrestlers going on in the attitude era were austin, rock, HHH, angle, jericho and taker. Everybody else were forgotten. Besides the light-heavyweight division, there weren't any memorable wrestlers. The only hot feud was austin and mcmahon. They revolutionized wrestling. There were so many pointless gimmick matches that involved the hardcore lifestyle. Pro wrestling fans want to see WRESTLING. Every era has its pros and cons. Just sayin!
All of a sudden, I'm a minority, eh? Yeah, im in the minority of a wrestling fan that speaks his mind. Like I said, Im not a wagon jumper. :)
The hardcore title and the european title was mostly for mid-carders. But most hardcore champs were former world champs. Angle, Taker, Kane, Foley, big show, jericho, jeff hardy, RVD, shall I go on? The attitude era had plenty of hardcore matches. For example, First Blood match, Last Man Standing match, Boiler Room Brawl, backstage brawl, TLC, tables match, Inferno match, stretcher match, etc... Like I said, the WWF wanted to compete with WCW; therefore, they knew that the hardcore lifestyle worked well with adult fans. It was constant hardcore matches. However, the attitude era did have lucha libre matches. That was the ONLY reason why I liked the attitude era, besides watching austin and the rock. And I'm not going to call you a muppet just because I disagree with you. But if it makes you feel better about yourself then I'd suggest you find a different way to deal with your criticism. Just sayin'.
yes, i can't STAND hardcore wrestling. I couldn't keep up with who had the hardcore title. Hardcore wrestling involves no skills. I'd rather see technical wrestling. OH NO! He hates hardcore wrestling! I'm not a real wrestling fan. Bitch please lol
