Difference between Maria Callas and Renata Tebaldi is they come from different schools. Maria comes from the "placement" school while Renata practices appoggio and sings in one register. Maria probably sings with much more passion though.

If you were to listen attentively to how Bjorling sings, he's one of the only few greats who hardly "scoops" his voice while transiting from one note to another. This is indeed true classical singing!
