Even they were jumping from a moving train into mortar fire it looks like only one american was injured or killed. Flight time is something like 30s when firing to that range with a mortar.

Phones (not sure if they can be called phones though) of today. Could drop a 3310 from 3rd floor and it would survive. Yes, it would explode into pieces but it would be easy to put the pieces together.
