I agree: Mitch was the coolest male actor of his time. I recommend reading the Mitchum biography "Baby, I don't care", by Lee Server. Anecdotes on about every single film he made, that'll make you chuckle with approval. Mitch was incredible.

Mitch was the kind of male actor I enjoyed identifying with, even as a boy. Guys like Brad Pitt, Leo DeCaprio, etc. just don't do it for me. I find it difficult to take them seriously as a male lead, too boyish looking.

Sam was a high class ethical minded director compared to some of today's directors, like Tarantino f.e. who sell torturing of people in helpless situations and sicko viewers get off on that. Even on the brink of death he still had an impressive mind, lots of humor and dignity. He wasn't perfect - who is? - but a hero of consciousness in America, no doubt.

This is part of the October 27 Miles Davis Show in 1973, in Stockholm, recorded by Swedish TV. I just wish this concert was available in better picture quality.
