What a first-rate gramophone you have. Ortofon is our favourite pick-up cartridge manufacturer: we have many of their pickups here. Unfortunately, the Xpression is somewhat out of our league! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for posting this. We heard it last Saturday on a request program on a New Zealand wireless station--we understand it was a big hit there. We also have it here on a long-playing gramophone recording.

"Girls in Grey" was written by Charles Williams, and it can be heard on the long-playing gramophone record "Remember These...? Famous Themes" (Grasmere Records: GRAL 10). This record appeared in 1986. Hope this helps.

An excellent job on a Collins classic. One thing, you might like to paint all the valve shields matt-black. The shiny shields will shorten the life of your valves. I have a R-390A here and have carried out this modification.

What a wonderful gramophone you have. Love that Ortofon SPU. Wew have an SPU Classic-E Mk. 2 here, and an S.M.E. 3009 Series II (Imp.) pickup arm. Also, I loved your valve amplifier. Lucky man!!!

What a nice wireless receiver you have there. I wish I had one. Used Racal RA.17L's professionally back in the early-mid 1980's. Here I only have "second-best": an E.A.C. (Hammalrund) R-390A/URR!

Mr runupahill: this "Tristan" was recorded on the 9th of March, 1935. It is currently available on West Hill Radio Archives WHRA6001, and I see it is available from many suppliers.

Thank you for letting us see, and hear such a wonderful wireless receiver. I would agree with you that it may be the finest all-valve receiver ever designed. But then I am biased: we have one here!

Thank you for demonstrating such a wonderful all-valve wireless receiver. Wish I had one. The only "Collins" wireless receiver we have her is a lowly R-390A/URR! Those guys at Collins Radio were certainly geniuses when it came to designing the very best of Communications Receivers.
