About this user
Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. owns Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, the London Times, the Australian newspaper. Sky News, about 50 other local Fox TV stations, 20th Century Fox, MySpace.com, and HarperCollins publishing.
He's currently beginning NewsCore: a project that will make his skewed news more quickly accessible throughout the world.
Conservative Clear Channel Communications is the largest owner of AM, FM, short-wave radio, as well as 12 channels on XM radio. All of their stations use FoxNews for their news coverage.
Liberal media? Who's manipulating whom?
Murdoch has owned or were affiliated with these companies for decades. Follow the money on latter-day conservative opinion, and it falls back on one man, who's not even American
Watch "Murdoch admits he tried to shape public opinion on Iraq" and you will see that objectivity in news isn't much of a priority to him. He's a news activist. He sends memos to his staff on talking points. He attempts to make news, not merely report it. Daily coverage consists of name-calling and logical fallacies such as the false dichotomy "left" vs. "right" when many other viewpoints would likely exist. It instigates rather than investigates.
FOXNEWS TRANSLATION GUIDE:
Watch: "Outfoxed Fox News technique some people say." The translation: Whenever you hear a FoxNews (or Clear Channel) pundit say "some people say that ..." it really means "Rupert Murdoch passed out a memo saying that ...."
"Cut the mike" means that the other guy is making some good points, and it has to stop.
The right-wing would have us believe that all the media outlets are wrong except for the opinion of one man. That's delusional by definition. There are many liberal media outlets. But they are MANY, not ONE. The various conservative media outlets mainly restrict their news source to ONE primary outlet: NewsCorp. As for George Soros (supposedly a left-wing version of Murdoch), Soros only owns the L.A. Times and some other city papers -- nothing on the par with Murdoch and has nowhere near the singular influence -- thankfully. Nobody -- including Murdoch -- should be permitted to have the singular influence that Murdoch continues to have. Yet Murdoch continues to persuade the FCC to give him more.
"Liberal media" was a term coined by Spiro Agnew whose main incentive was to deflect media coverage of his tax frauds. The term stuck because the deflection was a success, and it continues to this day. NewsCorp is merely such deceit's highest pinnacle: and FoxNews' claim of being "fair and balalnced" is likely the biggest deception in broadcast history.
