I don't think its alike, more like cloned, only about 30% smaller. Full size is actually a solid and comfortable grip.

Also, they are tough. Mine on loan from a bud has been dropped, used as a hammer, screwdriver, axe, and more. Still solid and smooth lock with no stop pin.
