Abba - The Name Of The Game

Music video by Abba performing The Name Of The Game. (C) 1977 Polar Music International AB

    MrBlueSky1978 MrBlueSky1978 commented:

Such a classy song. Amazing that it was only a number 1 hit in the UK. It tended to be just a top tenner elsewhere. This is also one of Abba's best videos which I remember fondly from when it was in the charts (when I was 9 years old! lol).

    MrBlueSky1978 MrBlueSky1978 commented:

Excellent as the Panther was it had a number of shortcomings. If the torsion bar suspension was damaged by mines it was almost impossible to repair. The transmission and drive should have been at the rear of the vehicle as in the T-34 thus making maintenance much simpler and quicker. The final dr...

    MrBlueSky1978 MrBlueSky1978 commented:

Interesting in that there are quite a number of deleted scenes shown in this promotional film. This is the first time I've seen McReady putting stuff on his new bed inside the camp because his shack is too cold. That's not in the final movie. Blair's examination of the dog-thing is different from...

    MrBlueSky1978 MrBlueSky1978 commented:

The prequel has a different feel to John Carpenter's classic. It's more about shock burst-outs and a faster pace. If you watch the prequel and the 1982 movie back-to-back it really works except for some minor continuity inconsistancies.

    MrBlueSky1978 MrBlueSky1978 commented:

In my opinion most cgi creatures I've seen over the last 15 years or so tend to simply move too fast to take in all the detail so they don't really sink in. This scene is a good case in point. I'm still creeped out by the effects from the '82 movie partly because most of it moved slowly so you co...

    MrBlueSky1978 MrBlueSky1978 commented:

3 major errors in the prequel imo. The first is in the '82 movie the ice the spacecraft is encased in is blown up with charges. In the prequel it's in a cave. Second, the face split thing was burned with kerosine in the Carpenter film whereas in the prequel it's burned by a flamethrower. And thir...

    MrBlueSky1978 MrBlueSky1978 commented:

The test of this film is can you watch this followed by the 1982 film to tell a consistent story. The answer is no. Why was the spacecraft not excavated using charges as in the 1982 film? Why was the face splitter thing not burned using kerosine? Why was the Norwegian camp not full of holes that ...

    MrBlueSky1978 MrBlueSky1978 commented:

Opening titles for Channel 4's American Football show from 1984 presented by Nicky Horne. Music is We Need A Hero by Bonnie Tyler.

Right at the end of this clip you can see the big 3d map of the US with the team's helmets located according to where their cities where behind Nicky Horne.
