My foreign father precluded my being a "natural born citizen" meaning born on U.S. soil of U.S. citizen parents; I am further ineligible by dual citizenship for being born a British citizen pursuant to the British Nationality Act of 1948, as dad was a British citizen of colonial Kenya. After divorcing my biological father who was never a U.S. citizen, my mom married another foreigner and I lived abroad in Indonesia. As the adopted son of Lolo Soetoro I acquired Indonesian citizenship and my last name legally became and still is Soetoro. As as young student I attended a school reserved by law exclusively for Indonesian citizens, where I learned to embrace Muslim culture and even excelled in the spiritual study of mengaji, which is reserved for only the most talented and devout students of Islam. Another little known fact is that while growing up I preferred not to be called Barack. My family and closest friends actually all know me as Barry and now you do too.
