About this user

My name is Dave and I was raised in Columbus, Ohio. I am a Software Engineer and amature video producer. I enjoy travel, crabbing, photography, video games and video production.

I joined the U.S. Navy in 1971 and toured the Western Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Towers (DDG-9) in 1976. Our ports of call included Hawaii, Guam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. I was discharged from the Navy in 1977.

I graduated from National University in San Diego, California in 1985 with a degree in Software Engineering.

Since then I have toured much of Europe and the Caribbean, visited all 50 U.S. states, Mexico and most of the Canadian provinces.

I founded "Mr. Alaska Films" (later "Mr. Alaska Video Productions") in 1997 following my first visit to the Yukon and Juneau, Alaska.

I am currently a confirmed bachelor living on Chesapeake Bay with my two Siamese cats Co-Co and Ty-Ty.

Footnote:

My working title of "Mr. Alaska" may be somewhat presumptuous and I apologize if this irritates any native Alaskans. I have only the highest regard for the proud people of the state of the Last Frontier. I also make no claim to represent those that have previously and more deservedly used the title of "Mr. Alaska".

A whale-watching tour in Vancouver where I lacked a video camcorder.

Hurricane Fran, when in 1996 I once again missed having a camcorder.

The purchase of my first camcorder (a Sony Hi-8) in 1997, for a two-week vacation to the Canadian Yukon and South-Eastern Alaska.
