Once upon a time...
There was a young kid digging ditches, installing fiberglass, and installing FRP panels in restaurant kitchens. This kid's name was Justin Brooke. He hated to sweat and dreamed of a day where his only job was to sit in a big comfy gray crushed velvet chair and all his work was done through the phone.
One day the big boss hoss came out, seeing this kids ambition and intelligence, asked Justin if he'd like to try out a position inside. Inside meant management and sales!!!
While Justin was teased by all his older macho friends still outside sweating and bleeding for a living...Justin excelled in sales. He had a natural talent for discovering the true sales objection and explaining why it was irrelevant.
Justin dove head first into the world of sales taking new jobs, opportunities, and promotions - Buying book after book on the subject. Till one day he realized "Hey, someone else is sitting back collecting the other 65% of the money I'm bringing in."
Back to Barnes & Noble, Justin bought book after book on starting his own business. He realized that by owning his own business and doing the sales for himself he could get 100% of the commissions!
