About this user
If talent and determination are the keys to success, Michelle Valastro is on her way. This New York native is a veteran of the stage and has been impressing audiences with her soulful blend of Pop/R&B/Rock since she was a child. Growing up with a father who is a musician, Michelle was exposed to music early on and it showed in her mature vocal ability as early as age 5.
Michelle spent much of her childhood and teenage years wowing audiences with her powerful voice. Participating in several talent shows, she sailed through with success figuring out the cool harmonies of En Vogue by ear and belting out tunes such as Whitney Houston's version of I Will Always Love You with ease. Michelle was also a member on a competitive cheer/dance team for eight years adding to her ability to be an amazing performer today.
After college where Michelle learned the art of public relations and marketing, performing became more of a reality. She took the stage in front of two thousand people at the Renegades Stadium (Minor League Baseball) in Duchess County, NY. in an American Idol style competition. Michelle won over the Upstate NY Renegades fans as well as those of the Brooklyn Cyclones for three consecutive weeks in a row, taking the competition to the end! Since then, Michelle has won and become a finalist in several local vocal competitions including the Top 5 of the Orange County, NY and the Hometown Legend Show.
In an effort take her career to the next level, Michelle entered RADIO STAR a National competition held by Epic Records and Clear Channel Radio. To no surprise, she found success becoming a finalist with her culminating performance of Jessica Simpson's I Wanna Love You Forever.
Through Radio Star Michelle made a contact with Grammy nominated producer/engineer Peter Moshay (Mariah Carey/Hall & Oates). Peter helped to guide Michelle to see herself as an artist. Michelle strives to be a complete artist who not only has a wide vocal range and strong stage presence; but also writes her own lyrics and arranges her music- determined to put her signature on her craft. Her influences are wide, ranging from the soul of Aretha Franklin and Mary J. Blige to the power house vocals of Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston.
Michelle had the opportunity to meet with BMG published songwriter/engineer/producer John Poppo (NSYNC/Mariah Carey/Madonna). Impressed after hearing a few of her rough vocal demos, John signed on to help her put a four song demo project together in New York City.
Recently Michelle was invited to sing The National Anthem at Giants Stadium for the NY Redbulls. She is also singing lead in one of the tri-state areas most successful cover bands, Pumping Madonna.
Michelle is continuing to develop her craft performing and working on writing and recording original material. No matter what, she loves what she does, and is determined to make good music..."In this business you have to do it because you love it, whether you are a huge number one selling artist, or a local musician trying to get discovered, it's work, talent, determination and dedication. You do music cause that's what you do, you are in love with it, or it breaks your heart, bottom line!
