For 25 years, Monica has been at the forefront of queer Latina/o writing and performing. This Los Angeles based Chicana writer/performer is the creator of several one woman shows: The OH! Show; Get Your Feet Wet; Queer Soul: A 20 year retrospective; Besame Mucho; Latin Lezbo Comic, and Greetings from a Queer SeƱorita, which have been seen across the country and Off Broadway.
Palacios is a recent member of the writing collective Macondo founded by Sandra Cisneros. Monica was a playwright finalist for the Many Voices Project Summer 2006 produced by Chicago Dramatists. She was awarded a prestigious Postdoctoral Rockefeller Fellowship from the Center for Chicano Studies, UC Santa Barbara, 2003-2004.
During this fellowship Palacios wrote, directed and produced her play Sweet Peace. Monica received an Indie Award for Excellence in Play Writing from the Santa Barbara Independent Newspaper. She also conceived, designed and directed the one person show: Rocks In My Salsa, written & performed by Cristina Nava, which garnered a "Best of L.A. 2006" from LA Weekly.
