About this user
Monday Rose was built on love, passion and humble beginnings. The name stems from the word Montrose, the boat on which singer ARi Lyon's great grandfather escaped from Nazi Poland. It symbolizes daring decisions, conquering a fear of the unknown, awareness of oneself, and refusing to be brought down by the people who want to bring you down the most. It is a name that represents survival and zest for life.
The live show of Monday Rose, who's sound has been compared to U2, Led Zeppelin, The Who, among other classic rock artists, has been called a mind melting event; that no matter how hard you try it is impossible not to fall completely in love. It leaves you wondering if you should have been taken out to dinner first; this is why fans have come to know the band as well as themselves as "The Lovers."
In the summer of 2007, in a cabin in the woods north of Toronto, singer ARi Lyon met guitarist Randy Starr. Immediately impressed and intrigued, the two discovered that their individual skills complimented each other very well. After jamming over the weekend the two decided to start a rock band, thus beginning the long and arduous search for the rest of the band...Time passed.
After over a year of various bass players, ARi called long time friend and newly available bassist Matt "Coyote" Black to come jam. The trio immediately fell into sync together with their respective styles; the diversity created a new dynamic, bringing newfound energy and intrigue to their playing. The search for a drummer who could match their intensity and musical honesty was now the focus. After countless auditions to no avail throughout 2009-10, ARi walked into a club where he witnessed drummer Nick Van Loon dominating his drum kit with the kind of originality, flair, precision, finesse and showmanship that Monday Rose has come to be known for. It was soon after that Nick was asked, and agreed, to join them full time. The foursome complete, Monday Rose now adds their own bit of honesty, intensity and integrity back to Rock n' Roll...
An ordinary week starts with Monday...An extraordinary life starts with Monday Rose.
Come join the Lovers. ..
