Strangely, you can learn alot from bad DMs as well as good ones.

The good ones teach you what to do right, but the bad ones show you the pitfalls to avoid: such as intrusive NPCs that dominate the game.

Like most DMs, I got a TPK on my first 4E combat.

I then had to recalculate my encounters, which consequently made them a bit too easy. It took some time for me to build well-balanced encounters.

4E is quite tough to DM, surprisingly.

Unlike Chris, I prefer to have the players recap the session.

It responsabilses them to pay more attention and allows me, as a DM, to see what they picked up on most and what they ignored.

Should they gloss over important details, I can just butt in occasionally and fill in the gaps.
