About Me:

Mobile Screenfest 2010 was Australia's first Mobile Phone Film Festival, where all films and photos entered were shot on mobile phones!

Now, with the coming of the new year, is the coming of a new Mobile Screenfest 2011...with a twist! Mobile Screenfest International, 2011 is going to open to the entire world, so be there!

A Bit of Background
...................................

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away... actually, in 2009 in Los Angeles, California the Director of ARAYA PICTURES Dr Avnesh Ratnanesan a.k.a. Avi bumped into a distinguished bloke called Professor Karl Bardosh (not to be confused with the Australian know-it-all-funnyman Dr Karl). Avi and Prof Karl were attending a film festival, where Avi had the world premiere of his slapstick short comedy The First Date and Prof Karl was there to check out the young talent. The film was a success and Avi was awarded the Best Directorial Debut for an International Short Film while Professor Karl, was distinguishing in educating filmmakers in the latest technologies in filmmaking at the festival seminars.

Over a couple of American beers (both for Avi) and an iced tea for the Professor, the two passionate filmmakers conceived one of the BOLDEST ideas in the Australian film and digital entertainment history - a festival where ALL films and photographs are shot entirely on mobile phones!

Prof Karl is well known as a filmmaking pioneer, a film festival junkie and one of the world leading experts in 'cellphone filmmaking' (cellphones are what they call mobile phones in the US). As a lecturer of the first of its kind course at the New York University, Prof Karl has been involved in numerous films productions internationally including Hollywood, as well as mobile phone film festivals in several countries. Together with Avi's entrepreneurial spirit, filmmaking passion and utter disregard for conformity, Mobile Screenfest 2010 was born, the first ever mobile phone film and photography festival of its kind in Australia. It was a tremendous success, making Australian entertainment history, even featured in the Sydney Morning Herald and many more (see Hot News section). Mobile Screenfest International 2011 is now born and open to the world. First there was Hollywood, then came Bollywood, now here's Mobbywood!

SHIT! You cannot FILM on a Mobile Phone!!!!!!!! Why do people Say FIlm and Video when people rarely use either of the two formats unless they are professionals, want to spend money or achieve a particular aesthetic...

'Mobile Film Festival' should be renamed to: Digitally Captured Moving Images @ 24+ fps Stored on a Solid State Hard Drive. It would be way simpler!!!!!!!!
