About this user

This channel was created and, until recently, maintained by video editor and community worker Mark Karbusicky (1971-2007). Mark was also the passionate partner of transsexual video and performance artist Mirha-Soleil Ross with whom he had been living for 10 years.

Mladylada was set up to disseminate video clips and excerpts resulting from their collaboration. Specifically, it was meant as a repository for personal, community and political moving images, ones unfit for festival screenings.

Mark committed suicide on April 26th 2007. His surviving widow, Mirha-Soleil, hopes to continue adding video clips on his Mladylada channel, starting with home and traveling footage featuring Mark in all his gentleness and beauty.

When choosing a title for this channel, Mark decided to include the name LADA which is short for Ladislav. LADA was the nickname of Mark's favorite relative, his uncle Ladislav Karbusicky who also committed suicide by hanging some decade and a half earlier. Mark and Mirha-Soleil also named one of their rescued feral cats Ladislav in memory of that beloved uncle.
