Classical pianist Francesca Hurst, a Washington native, performs regularly in and around Washington, DC. Recently she performed at the National Museum of Women in the Arts and at the Italian Embassy, both in Washington, DC. Francesca has also performed for the Ambassadors of Finland and the European Union at their residences in DC as well as at the Embassies of Finland and the Vatican and at the World Bank. In 2007 she made her European orchestral debut with I Solisti di Perugia in Italy. She was a semi-finalist in the Vladigerov International Piano Competition in Bulgaria and a prizewinner in the International Young Artist Piano Competition in Washington, DC. She participated twice in the Schlern International Music Festival in Trentino Alto-Adige, Italy. She has received numerous scholarships from such organizations as the Italian Cultural Society of Washington, Catholic University, Tulane University, the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), and the Italian Government.

Francesca is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance at Catholic University in Washington, DC under Dr. Ivo Kaltchev. She received a MM in Piano Performance from Catholic University, and a BFA in Piano and a BA in Italian from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. Her piano teachers include Dr. Ivo Kaltchev, Faina Lushtak and Maryen Herrett, and her chamber music coaches include Michael Mermagen, Jody Gatwood, Robert Wells, Alvaro Gomez and Richard Field. She has performed in master classes for such artists as Milena Mollova, Ilana Vered, Ludmil Angelov, Sergio de Simone, Alexei Lubimov, Nikita Fitenko, Alexander Braginsky, and Kevin Orr. Francesca is on the music faculty at Trinity University and Catholic University in DC, and maintains a small private studio. She also plays for Fairfax Christian Church in Fairfax, VA.
