DIRECTOR INFO
Oli Barry is a multi-award winning director and producer. His film 'The Nine Lives of Alice Martineau' won a BAFTA 2003 for Best New Director, it was also nominated for a Grierson Award for Best Newcomer, a Rose D'Or for Best International Arts and Specials, and a Royal Television Society Award for Best Editor. His follow up film 'Bye Bye Happiness' tackles the hard subject of depression and won the 2005 Grierson U.K. Documentary Award for Most Entertaining Documentary.
Oli recently directed and produced through Miracle Entertainment four upcoming SOS films for Al Gore's Live Earth concerts. The films starring Harry Shearer and Rip Torn will be played across the world to an audience of 2 billion people.
Oli also directed 'The Prince of Wales: Up Close', the only access documentary filmed with Prince Charles in the last 12 years. It highlight's the great work that the Prince does with The Prince's Trust. It was recently shown a number of times on ITV in UK, where it received record ratings.
Previous to that, he directed a re-branding campaign for The Discovery Channel -- 'Change the Rules' that won a Silver Promax Award in New York 2006.
Oli created the eight part BBC series 'Changemakers' that profiled fifty-five extraordinary people in twenty-seven countries who change the world. The series was used to launch BBC3. He has also directed and created other series and programs for the BBC on subjects such as water treatments in Rwanda, gangs in San Salvador and childcare in the United Kingdom.
He directed and produced the pilot 'Men in White' for Channel 4, which was commissioned for a series and has sold across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Last summer he worked as the second unit director with Samuel Bayer on the Green Day live, feature film, 'Bullet in a Bible'.
Previous to being a director, Oli was an award-winning editor. He worked on numerous commercials, promos and documentary films and edited a Special Jury Prize winning short film at the Cannes film Festival.
