329 views 9 months ago
Ming-Ai (London) Institute was awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund to conduct the British Chinese Workforce Heritage project, a groundbreaking three-year project looking at the history and contribution of the British Chinese workforce in London over the last 150 years.

In Year-1 the project has recorded and documented peoples' experiences in a range of employment industries including seafaring, laundry, hairdressing, catering, military. In its second and third year the project will look at community centres, health care, traditional Chinese medicine and newer professions through research and oral history interviews.

This trailer briefly introduces some of Year-1's interviewees, featuring Andrew Wong and Jason Li. For more information on the project and for all the interviews, research articles, photographs and videos of the British Chinese Workforce Heritage project please go to http://www.britishchinesehe...

The trailer is produced and directed by Ben Fielden. Special thanks to Richard York and The Rainbow Collective for his assistance in the production of this video.
