Tonya is the Executive Vice-President of MindScapes and works in the College of Education at Wichita State University, teaching graduate teacher education courses in technology integration.. She has served as the Director of Technology and Virtual Services at ESSDACK, a service center in Kansas. She has experience teaching courses such as robotics, clay animation, multimedia, web design, early childhood technology integration, and global and distance education. Tonya is a technology leader in the National Writing Project, assisting teachers to integrate technology into the writing process and encourage writing across the curriculum.
Over the years, Tonya has taught many summer technology camps for kids, hosted student robotics challenges (including WSU's Mindstorms Challenge), and staged many video theater showings for student movies and animations. Her teaching methodology provides hands-on, minds-on, meaningful experience with reflective practice.
Tonya has been awarded for her work in distance learning with a "Global Learning Excellence in Technology Innovation Award"and an "ISTE SIGTEL Online Learning Award."
