Talent. Intelligence. Personality. Business savvy. These are all things that come to mind when discussing up and coming artist, Millie Mag. The entire spectrum of the music industry is in immediate danger. Be prepared, because the West Chester, Pennsylvania native is a force to be reckoned with. Not following the conventional route of flooding the streets with numerous mixtapes, Millie has been on the grind hard none the less. I think 50 said it best, sometimes you have to reinvent the wheel, states the young charismatic star in the making.Growing up mostly in the suburbs of Philadelphia (he lived with his father in Philly for 4 years) Millie was exposed to a different childhood than your regular run of the mill hip hop artist. I didnt grow up rich but we werent totally fucked up either it was a unique median if you will. Spending time going back in forth from the suburbs to the city played an important role in the development of young Millie's people skills. Having the education from the suburbs and the street smarts from the city made him a distinctive individual.
Millie did not always pursue music as a profession, however. I was an amazing basketball player, that was my life for about 16 years. But despite being a full time athlete Millie wrote a rhyme everyday since he can remember. English was the only subject I ever cared about -- writing was always apart of my life.
When Millie was 18 he met someone who would change his life. I met Peanut through a mutual friend. He was running with the Rocafella camp at the time with Freeway. He pretty much saw talent in me and helped me mold my writing. He would take me and my homies up and down the east coast to shows and events. I got to open for Freeway on numerous occasions. Ive had chances to network and meet a lot of people. When I first met him I thought things would take off quick. Im happy they did not because the grind developed me more and has prepared me better for the music industry.
Content is a major issue when it comes to music. I never was one to talk about things I didnt experience. I feel like when you make music for other people to hear you have an obligation to tell the truth. That way people can really respect and/or relate to what you are saying.
Millie prides his self on his flow, versatility, content and vigorous work ethic. Simply put, he loves to make music. Where Im from dropping cds and albums is rather pointless because nobody checks that area for rap music. I had to use networking to get opportunities. They werent coming to me so I took the initiative and brought it to them.
Seems like that initiative paid off. Millie has some serious heavy weights checking for him. Dreams do come true. Im watching mine unfold in front of my eyes. Think positive and positive things will happen for you.
Well said.
