About this user

Mikhail Johnson born and grown in the Caribbean island of Jamaica in the parish of St. James on August 24th, 1989. Mikhail officially started playing the piano at the age of six when he got a keyboard for his birthday as the first keyboard received by him was destroyed by his tiny tot fingers at the age of four. His mother mother said "His fingers moved across the keyboard as if he had been playing for years although the keyboard was not producing any sound." From the womb into childhood, he has learned to appreciate music and though this he has developed a good ear was able to play pieces only by listening. He started official piano lesson in the second grade at the Unity Preparatory School which unfortunately did not last very long and consequently the rest of the the learning process was left up to him to accompish which he did and learned his first song: Turn you eyes upon Jesus. Between this age and the age of ten, he continued to practice on he own with a 49 key keyboard; which he still used to this day to create most of his recent compositions and he started playing for his church and other churches around him. With this amazing talent he shun brighter and brighter. He then attended the Howard Cooke Primary School starting at grade four and ended at grade six where he was Deputy Head Boy and over the years there at the institution, was one of the school's musicians. There he learned and started to play the recorder. At the age of 13, He attended the Herbert Morrison Technical High School best known for their school band, their lovely choirs and for entering festival competitions and receiving gold medals and trophies every year. He entered their high school band playing the alto saxophone for his full five years at high school and started the flute in the latter part of my years there. There He also studied Science and Technology and did 9 CXC subjects namely: Math, English, Information Technology, Music, Biology, Chemistry, Human and Social Biology and Geography obtaining all subjects failing none. In doing the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) Music He obtained the second highest in the island for this subject. He has also entered the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Festival of the Performing Arts Competition with the band and has received gold medals in the categories of recorder and piano. With this he passed to the national finals for recorder and received a special award for obtaining second highest in the competition in that category. He currently attends the Northern Caribbean University where He is pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry, and a minor in music.
