About this user

I've been playing drums on and off since the age of 6. I am mostly self taught. Any lessons I took were more abstract, avante garde' type. I learned quite a bit from a friend of my brother. His name is Ricky. He was taught by an amazing jazz drummer, Barry Altschul. I really like jazz fusion because of the overall feel and freedom of expression within the music. I give tremendous credit to the young technical players I see playing some very difficult music on the internet. My favorite progressive rock band is, Yes. I was in a progressive rock band called "APOSTLE", back in the late 1970's, early 1980's. We played "YES", "GENESIS", "ELP", "KANSAS", as well as some originals. We have regrouped Apostle after 28 years as a Yes Tribute band. We have our debut gig booked at Sundance in Rocky Point on Friday, April 24th 2009 at 9:00 P.M. Hopefully we will be back out playing various venues after that gig. Our last keyboardist in the original Apostle, was Jordan Rudess, who is presently with Dream Theater. I took quite a bit of time off from playing. I was a bit busy raising a family and building a business or two. I know I will never make a living playing drums, but it's fun and I do love playing.
