I was born and raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey where I lived all my life until I graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1983. I joined the Marine Corps immediately after graduation and entered boot camp on 2 November 1983. I watched the Beirut Bombing on television which occurred on 23 October 1983 and felt very committed to serving my country. After 14 years of enlisted service I was accepted for an officer commissioning program, finished #1 at officer's basic school and spent the final 11 years in the service as an officer. I spent over 25 years in the Marine Corps before retiring on 1 January 2009. While in the service I traveled to Iceland, Germany, Amsterdam, France, Japan, Korea (twice), Thailand (twice), Singapore, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Indonesia. I also completed both my undergraduate and graduate school while on active duty. While in the military I was awarded two Meritorious Service Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medals. The highlights of my career were meeting and working with President Reagan during the Reagan-Gorbachev Summit in Reykjavik Iceland in 1986 and meeting President George W. Bush in 2003. Upon my retirement, I was offered my current position as the Director of Administration for the School of Infantry (West) at Camp Pendleton, California. I was recently awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal for my performance in the position of Director. This civilian award is the equivalent of the military Legion of Merit. For the past two years I have been an adjunct professor at the University of Redlands School of Business where I have been teaching at the graduate level.
